  The Library of Congress:  http://www.loc.gov/preserv/

The LOC works to develop protocols for the treatment of every type of bound and unbound paper-based artifact, as well as recording and digital storage media.

The Institute for Conservation (ICON):  http://www.icon.org.uk

The American Institute for Conservation (AIC):  http://aic.stanford.edu/

The AIC site includes links for collection managers seeking expert care for their objects, and to conservators' training programs in the US.  Some disciplines (Architecture, Textiles, Book & Paper for example) maintain their own websites which can be accessed from the AIC main site.

Reading the AIC News is a good introduction to the breadth and scope of members' activities, and the last several years' editions are available for online reading or download at http://aic.stanford.edu/library/aicnews_archive.html

The Regional Alliance for Preservation (RAP):  http://www.rap-arcc.org/
The non-profit conservation labs are referred to as "regional centers" because of their size and importance to local institutions and individuals. In addition, they serve clients across the USA through treatments, consulting services, and educational programs. The RAP website organizes links to the individual centers by geographical region and special areas of expertise such as the conservation of photographs or textiles.

The largest paper conservation centers in the USA are:

•   The Conservation Center for Art and Historic Artifacts (CCAHA), located in Philadelphia:  http://ccaha.org/

•   The Northeast Document Conservation Center (NEDCC), located in Andover, Massachusetts:  http://nedcc.org/

  University Products:  http://www.archivalsuppliers.com/
A large online catalog of conservation supplies available in the USA.  Additional categories and equipment can be viewed on the site of the affiliated British company, Preservation Equipment Limited:  http://www.preservationequipment.com/
